What to expect

Expect a listening and compassionate Counselor: Proverbs 18:13 says, "If one gives an answer before he hears, it is folly and shame." I will never stand in the place as your judge as that is the job of the Holy Spirit. I also think that listening is key to understanding and learning, therefore, I will work hard to listen and understand your situation.
Expect to read and learn from Scripture: I tell all of my counselees that I have no great wisdom in and of myself so I don't place a ton of confidence in a human counselor or a program. I place my hope in the Lord Jesus, our Wonderful Counselor. Ultimately, all faithful Christian counseling points to the person and work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the source of our counseling will be Scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 declares, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Expect to do some Work: I will provide growth assignments for you to complete almost every week. The reason for this is that I believe most of the change in your life is going to occur outside of the counseling room as you apply what you are learning in our sessions.
Expect to Meet Regularly: Depending on the situation most sessions occur weekly or at least every other week. Most sessions will last about 50-60 minutes. I will do everything I can to work around your schedule but your commitment to change will require a commitment to meet on a regular basis.
